Vidalia,

Mr. Cordell Cannady, age 87 of Vidalia, died Friday, March 6, 2015 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a sudden illness one week ago.  He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, lifelong farmer, and was a member of the Pendleton Community Church in Normantown.  Cordell was a great storyteller; he enjoyed southern gospel and blue grass music, and enjoyed working in Jeanette’s rose garden.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Revis Gordon Cannady; twin daughters, Fran and Jan Cannady; parents, Otis and Virginia Batay Cannady; and two brothers, Gene Cannady and Bobby Cannady.

Cordell is survived by his wife, Jeanette Page Cannady; two daughters, Angela Cannady Benefield and husband John of Smyrna, and Candy Thomas Wimer and husband Mike of Ashville, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Michael Foster and wife Nicole of Vidalia, Danielle Moss of Santa Claus, and Samantha Moss of Vidalia; three great-grandchildren, Gage Foster, Lilly McBride, and Jase Foster; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday, March 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Roberson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Blockers Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
