Mrs. Christine Leslie Powell Wooten, age 67, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015, after an extended illness. She was born in St. John, New Brunswick, lived many years in Burlington, Ontario, and has lived in Vidalia since 1975. At the age of fourteen, she founded the Leslie Powell School of Dance in Burlington. In 1976, she founded the Vidalia Academy of Ballet, teaching ballet for a combined total of more than forty years. She also worked with her husband, Dr. James H. Wooten, Optometrist, for thirteen years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia.
She was preceded in death by her parents George Harold Powell and Rose Muriel Doman Powell.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Jim Wooten, and one daughter, Jenny Wooten of Vidalia.
The funeral service will be held Friday, September 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Don Moye officiating.
Burial will follow in the Alamo City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
