Vidalia,

Mr. Chris A. Calhoun, age 48, of Vidalia, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 23, 2017.  He was a native of Toombs County, and was a 1986 graduate of Vidalia High School. He lived in Liberty County for four years and in Atlanta for more than ten years before returning to his native Toombs County.  He was a graduate of Georgia Southern University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Education, and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity.  Chris was a 2007 graduate of Georgia State University College of Law, where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence.  He was an active member of the State Bar of Georgia, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving three years, stationed in Alaska.  Chris was an educator and soccer coach in the Jeff Davis County school system for the past four years.  He traveled extensively; his adventures took him around the globe.

Mr. Calhoun is survived by his mother, Sandra W. Sikes and husband James of Lyons; his father, Wendell Calhoun of Vidalia; two brothers, Charlton Calhoun and wife Tracy of Cumming, and Paul Calhoun of Vidalia; one step-sister, Jamie Holstein and husband Josh of St. Augustine, Florida; one step-brother, Chris Wilson and wife Stephanie of Beaufort, South Carolina; two nephews, Conner Calhoun and Tyler Calhoun; four step-nieces and one step-nephew.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 26th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Lee Burton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00.
