Lyons,

Mr. Charles F. Ambrose, age 83, of Lyons, died Monday, November 23, 2015, after a brief illness.  He was born in San Diego, California to a naval family, and ultimately moved to Lyons.  He was a 1949 graduate of Lyons High School, and then entered the U.S. Air Force where he proudly served our country for four years as a military policeman.  He was a 1961 graduate of the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Economics and Finance.  After beginning his early career with Greenville Textile, he relocated his family to Vidalia where he owned and operated Central Industrial Supply Company, and later took a sales position with Delta Thread Company.  In 1988, Charles retired from industrial sales and spent the next fifteen years as a health physics technologist working in commercial nuclear power sites across the country.  He was a former member of the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation.  One of his proudest accomplishments was obtaining a private pilot’s license.  He was an avid reader of military history, more especially that of World War II.  He had a love for his many “four-legged animals” throughout his life.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Orin A. Ambrose, Sr. and Rosa Williamson Ambrose; one brother, Orin Ambrose, Jr.; and one sister, Mary Ellen Ambrose Meyer.

Mr. Ambrose is survived by his wife, Betty Ambrose of Lyons; four children, Karen Ambrose and Joey of Lyons.
