South Thompson Community,

Mrs. Carol Spires Glisson, age 58, of the South Thompson Community, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon after a sudden illness.  She was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, a sales clerk at John’s Country Junction, and attended the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her father, Willie "Duke" Spires.  She enjoyed fishing, cruises, NASCAR, and especially Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Carol is survived by three children, Carra Denmark of Uvalda, Shane Walters of Normantown, and Rusty Glisson and wife Joanna of Uvalda; her mother, Leartis Vinson Spires of South Thompson; one brother, Willie “Ghost” Spires, Jr. of Vidalia; eight grandchildren, Tyler Kight, Daisia Walters, Jaden Walters, Jordan Glisson, Austin Glisson, Ashlea Glisson, Tyler Glisson, and Bryson Glisson; and one great-grandchild, Aubree Kight.

The graveside funeral service will be held Friday, February 27th at 4:00 p.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Steven Toole officiating.

The family will receive friends at Lakeview Memorial Gardens from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
