Mr. Calem Copeland, age 24, of Lyons, died Sunday, October 23, 2016. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and was a graduate of Toombs County High School. He served four years in the U.S. Army, was a veteran of Afghanistan, and also was stationed at Ft. Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was a security officer at Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Power Plant, and attended the South Thompson Baptist Church. He enjoyed motorcycles, 4-wheelers, hunting, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Aldene and Buster Copeland.
Calem is survived by one son, Caiden Copeland of Cincinnati, Ohio; his parents, Darrell and Ty Ann Dorsey Copeland of Lyons; maternal grandparents, Edward and Wynoka George of the Center Community; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 27th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor B.L. Horne officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00.
