Mr. Billy Palmer, age 68, of Montgomery County, died Thursday, September 21, 2017, at his home, after a sudden illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, worked for Piggly Wiggly Southern for eighteen years, and then retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections after twenty-five years.  He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was the teacher for the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class.  He was a preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Emma McBride Palmer.

Mr. Palmer is survived by two sons, Heath Palmer and wife Donna, and Todd Palmer and wife Jessica; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Evan, McKenzie, Will, Keely, Mayeslynn, and Kiley; two great-grandchildren, Eli and Austin all of Montgomery County; and numerous cousins.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 24th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bobby Thompson and Reverend Randy McDuffie officiating. Burial will follow in Sharpe Cemetery near Alston.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
