Mrs. Betty Kate McLemore Todd, age 82, of Vidalia, died Monday, May 22, 2017, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. She as a lifelong resident of Vidalia and was a 1952 graduate of Vidalia High School. She worked in the family business, McLemore’s Abattoir, and she and her husband were the owners of Todd’s Fertilizer’s Service for several years. She was a member of Vidalia Church of God, the Golden Nuggets, of the church, the Seniors With a Testimony at First Baptist Church Vidalia, Vidalia Senior Citizens, and Lyons City Citizens. For many years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bilyl and Ella Williamson McLemore; two brothers, John “Pee Wee” McLemore and Bill McLemore.
Mrs. Todd is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Toby Todd of Vidalia; two daughters, B.J. Todd Godby and husband Rick of Berea, Kentucky and Judy Todd of Savannah; two brothers, Gene McLemore and wife Sue Ellen and Mercer McLemore and wife Phanetta all of Vidalia; two sisters, Elouise Seidel of Vidalia and Patricia Usher of the New Branch Community; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth McLemore; two granddaughters, Heather Davis of Vidalia, and Kelly Godby and husband Pete of Birmingham, Alabama; two great-granddaughters, Sage Davis and Sarah Pitts; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Vidalia Church of God with Reverend Dan Tomberlin officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
