Mr. Bernard "Bernie" L. Sager, age 84, of Lyons, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and lived there until moving to Orlando, Florida in 1970 before moving to Toombs County in 1978. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Plumbers Local Union 27 and most recently worked at Wal-Mart in the garden section. He served in the United States Army and fought during the Korean War and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vidalia. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and past governor of the Lyons/Vidalia Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen Murphy Sager; parents, Louis J. and Margaret Sager; grandson, Michael James Kress, Jr.; son-in-law, Fred Liquori; and one brother-in-law, William “Bill” Reder.

Mr. Sager is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Lessie Sager of Lyons; nine daughters, Michele K. Blackwell and husband Nick of Clermont, Florida, Debbie S. Clark and husband Johnny of Apopka, Florida, Maxine Sager Hutto of Lyons, Brenda Brown of Register, Geraldine DeCelle and husband Billy of Pensacola, Florida, Jacquline Feagan and husband Chris of Orlando, Florida, Jennifer Menke and husband Jeff of Oviedo, Florida, Janice L. Sager, and Elizabeth Rix and husband James all of Orlando; four sons, Bernard L. Sager II of Castleberry, Florida, William “Bill” Sager of Normantown, Edward Michael Sager of Milton, Florida, and Thomas “T.J.” Sager and wife Mia of Lyons; one sister, Mary Frances Reder of Pittsburgh; thirty-one grandchildren, Nicholas Blackwell III, Lindsey Wright and husband Chris, Michael Clark and wife Meagan, Nicholas Clark, Bryan Clark, Katie Monroe and husband Lex, Christopher Hutto, Bernie Hutto, Brittany Hutto, Christina L. Strength and husband B.J., Allison DeCelle, Emilee DeCelle, Ashley Sager, Andrew Sager, Alexander Sager, Jessica Coocen, Madison Feagan, Matthew Feagan, Jacob Sager, Jade Sager, Lauren Menke, Mitchell Menke, Morgan Sager, MaKenzie Sager, Preston Sapp, Collin Sager, Timothy Rix, Roxanne Rix, Ashleigh Brown, Whitney Brown, and Laci Redding and husband Daniel; nineteen great-grandchildren Krystal Kress, Aiden Clark, Ryan Clark, Julia Clark, Katelyn Clark, Hunter Partin, Abigail Hutto, Sailor Kate’ Monroe, Brennan Monroe, Alyssa Vandenburge, Jacob Coocen, Jared Coocen, Jordyn Coocen, Joshua Coocen, Jaxson Kelyman, Alexus Tanner, Kavery Purvis, Braydyn Caddell, and Madelyn Redding; and nephew, Bill Reder and wife Becky of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The funeral service will be held Friday, March 27th at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday night from 6:00 until 8:00.
