Vidalia,

Miss Barbara Eidson, age 77, of Vidalia, died Monday, August 24, 2015 in Cedar Plantation in Metter.  She was native of Vidalia and a graduate of Vidalia High School.  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia State College for Women, and later a Master’s Degree from Florida State University, both in Library Science.  She was a professor at the University of Georgia where she taught library science, and later worked as a library consultant for Atlanta Public Schools.  She returned to Vidalia to care for her mother, and worked with the Ohoopee Regional Library in Vidalia.  She was a former member of the Pilot Club, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Essie Eidson; and a sister, Betty Eidson Piper.  She was a charter member of the Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society, and her passion was rescuing animals.

Mrs. Eidson is survived by two nieces, one nephew, and several devoted friends.

The graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, August 30th at 2:00 p.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Reverend David Blalock and Reverend Douglas Weisel officiating.
