Mrs. Arlene Pittman, age 43 of the Johnson’s Corner Community, died Monday, December 26, 2011 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was a native of San Marcos, Texas; living in Pierce and Ware Counties for several years before moving to Toombs County in 2000. She was an avid dirt track driver, and was the promoter of several race tracks, including Waycross, Cochran, and Golden Isles Speedways. She was the former owner of A&P Recyclers, and the former co-owner of Pittman Consulting and Designs. She was twice chairperson of the United Way in Ware County, and attended the Edmond Chapel Church of God.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Philip Pittman of Johnson’s Corner; two daughters, Ashley Tanner and husband Bobby of Hoboken, and Victoria Nasworth and Jeremiah of Cochran; four step-children, Jennifer Pittman of Atlanta, Megan Nash and husband Benjamin of Santa Claus, Heath Pittman and wife Emily of Vidalia, and Nathan Pittman and wife Valerie of Vidalia; her parents, Arliss Sewell of Odessa, Texas and Barbara Crews of Blackshear; one sister, Glenda Krantz of Blackshear; two brothers, Allen Sherrer of Rialto, California and Paul Jorgensen of Blackshear; two grandchildren, Kolton William Brown and Logan Christopher Tanner; seven step-grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Hannah, LiliAnn, Melea, Nathalie, and Marley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 29th at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend F.M. Henderson, Reverend Jim Bennett, and Reverend Bill Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
